Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Frances Cabrini

On a beautiful autumn Sunday morning on October 5th, Colorado was alive with its finest fall colors. Twelve pilgrims from Court Our Lady of Peace #2728 gathered in Woodland Park, their hearts full of anticipation as they boarded a van bound on a sacred journey. Their destination…Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden, Colorado. The shrine stands in tribute to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first American citizen to be canonized a saint in 1946. Originally, the site served as a summer retreat for orphaned girls — a mission dear to Mother Cabrini’s heart, reflecting her lifelong dedication to serving the vulnerable and forgotten.
As the van wound its way through the majestic Rockies, nature put on a breathtaking display — shimmering golden aspens, glistening mountain streams, and rugged peaks rising like silent sentinels. Each turn in the road revealed scenes worthy of a postcard, a moving meditation on the beauty of God’s creation and a road that leads to deeper faith.
The day at the Mother Cabrini Shrine started with a beautiful Mass celebrated in the chapel, drawing the group together in worship. The day’s journey provided a deeply enriching spiritual retreat, offering countless opportunities for reflection, prayer and deepening of faith. From quiet corners for personal prayer and meditative walks through peaceful paths, to the serene rosary garden and inspiring grotto, every space invited contemplation. Statues of saints dot the grounds, each telling their own silent story of faith, with an awe-inspiring twenty-two-foot statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus standing watch atop the highest hill — a beacon of love and devotion visible for miles.
If you would like more information on the shrine, you can visit their web site at www.mothercabrinishrine.org

Our Lady of the Woods

St. Peter's Chapel
In the Book of Matthew 25:40, Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.” Think on that! For good or evil, we are judged by our actions informed by our faith.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is an organization of women, founded in 1903, dedicated to discipleship of Christ through our actions toward “the least of these.” Inspired by our faith, we are united in Christ’s teachings and carrying out His work on earth. Our local court, Our Lady of Peace #2728, was instituted in 2017, and currently has 32 members. Our mission is to respond to Jesus’ call in Charity and Unity, to be His instruments on earth and to witness to our catholic faith though our actions.
Today, we celebrate CDA Sunday along with over 1200 Courts and more than 50,000 members united for the same purpose. Our National Projects include, among others, Habitat for Humanity, Holy Cross Family Ministries, The Laboure’ Society, SOAR, and the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. National Charities include Catholic Relief Services, Missionaries of Charity, Disaster Relief, and Human Life International, just to name a few.
Our state and local charities include Canine Companions for Life, a Colorado based charity providing free service dogs to those in need, One Nation Walking Together, a charity which provides food and clothing to the poorest of the poor residing on local Native American reservations, and the Seminary Burse, providing monetary support to Colorado’s seminarians.
In our parish, we provide needed toiletries and sundries for the homeless of Teller County, make and distribute free rosaries, provide breakfast after the children’s summer play, as well as organizing the Giving Trees at Our Lady of the Woods and St. Peter’s Chapel. For the past 3 years, we have sponsored a Spiritual Retreat for the women of the parish.
This year, one of our projects has been the support of Sarah’s Home and Daniel’s Academy. These are sanctuaries for girls and boys who have been the victims of human trafficking. Besides offering a safe place for these children to reside, they offer counseling and job placement when they are old enough to live an independent life.
There is an old saying, “Charity begins at home.” Our Sisters express their charity and love by prayerfully supporting one another during the most difficult times in their lives. Our emphasis on our spiritual growth brings us each closer to Jesus, and helps us to turn to Him in an increasingly secular world.
We invite all Catholic women in good faith to support us in our cause both nationally and locally. We encourage you to join us for any of our court meetings at the parish hall on the second Tuesday of the month.
